A hypothesis for experience curves of related technologies with an application to wind energy

We develop a novel hypothesis around the impact of related technology on development an experience curve. explore implications this in case wind energy, which has been historically developed onshore and is currently experiencing rapid growth deployment offshore. look at modelling offshore energy as (1) fully new technology, (2) direct offshoot wind, (3) hybrid. Focusing levelized cost electricity we find that assumptions about its relatedness to are equally important future scenarios. This research highlights previously neglected factor curve analysis, may be especially for technologies, such expected contribute significantly climate change mitigation.
